We haven’t done an update lately, so I thought I would take a few minutes today and size up the current inventory in our home collection.
Don’t get confused with my use of the word “collection,” because all of these bottles are here for only one reason – to drink. No matter how pretty the bottle is, it goes in the recycle bin when it’s empty.
Our bar currently contains 37 bottles of tequila, 1 mini barrel of tequila we received as a gift, 1 mini bottle of mezcal, and 1 bottle of wine (all visible in the picture.) Not shown, because they are stored below, are 12 other bottles of tequila (including a bottle of El Tesoro de Don Felipe), mostly backup bottles to ensure that we don’t unexpectedly run out.
:-)
So that’s 49 bottles of tequila, total. Hmmm. I’d like to make that an even 50. What are we missing?

Check out Fortaleza Repo LOT 5 (the lot # is VERY important w/Fortaleza).
I’m not usually a big fan of Fortaleza’s repos (ADORE their blanco of course!)
This was a one-off lot that used “rechipped” barrels and the caramel/butter/light smoke will CHANGE your life (I hope!)
Great collection. You have some of my favorites there. One hard to find bottle that I just found is Tequila Cristeros Reposado. They have 2 types of reposado if I recall, but one of them is extremely tasty. If you see it pick one up.
It’s true that tequila is best when you first open the bottle, but it doesn’t change dramatically over time. However, we suggest that once the bottle is open you drink it within a year. Exposure to oxygen and light will change the flavor and aroma somewhat.
Thanks for the suggestion, Scott. We actually have a bottle of that, but you can’t see it in the picture. We enjoy it and we have also found that it is one of the few añejos available in certain parts of Mexico.
I highly recommend trying out Espolon Reposado. You should be able to pick it up at any BevMo, but it’s a great (and I mean GREAT) cheap tequila. I don’t like the Blanco as much, but the Repo is perfection considering the price. Hope to see this review soon!
Grover & Scarlet, Just got a bottle of Esperanto Anjeo that was recommended to me. See that you have a bottle in your collection. What are you impressions?
Grover & Scarlet,
You are making me very, very jealous. And very, very thirsty for that matter.
Jay
We are really impressed with your collection!

Where is your bottle of Herradura Selection Suprema? Comes in a beautiful box and is aged no less than 5 years. Best Tequila EVER!!!
you are missinga bottle called wabo cabo,
I’m starting my own collection and I was wondering if you’ve noticed a big change in aroma or taste after you’ve opened a bottle and store it again?

What are you missing?? Well I’m nowhere near the expert that you are, but I really like Tres Generaciones Anejo and I didn’t notice that here.

You see everyone is wrong. What you are really missing is Tequila El Relingo. http://www.tequilaelrelingo.com
Have you tried Tequila Don Valente? It is imported by R & J Imports in Redwood City, CA and available in CA, AZ, HI, NV, CO, and TX.
You should try Los tres toños, especialy the blanco.
Porfidio Anejo & any 4 Copas
try Sol Azul. beutiful bottle and good taste. I have a little collection, 20 and counting :) just added casa noble blanco.
Have you tried El Ultimo Agave? It is a rather amazing value brand that will surprise you.
Need to try Riazul either anejo, reposado or silver- cant go wrong with any one, but better yet, give em all a try!

Thanks, Scott. We should probably review it for the site sometime soon.

What do you two think of the La Cava del Mayoral tequila brand? I see that you had a blanco in your collection
cheers
