This week’s Weekend Sipper is:
Fortaleza Blanco – “Lots to Love”
Fortaleza Blanco is one of those tequilas that we will never run out of because we are constantly stockpiling it. And the reason for that is simple—it’s delicious and authentic. With butter, citrus and olive aromas, and a rich mouthfeel, what’s not to love!?
Fortaleza is made in small batches, using old-world techniques, in an old, tiny no-tech distillery in Tequila, Jalisco. Agaves are cooked in a brick oven, crushed using a tahona, fermented in wood tanks, and distilled in a small copper pot still.
These old fashion production methods may be considered “inefficient” by today’s standards, but the quality speaks for itself.
Fortaleza is a real tequila. This means each batch will have its own personality, based on the agaves used and what time of year it is made. Just ask any hardcore fans (like us), and they will be able to recite a list of their favorite “lots” (the batch number is written by hand on the back of the bottle).
We try many different tequilas in our house, but Fortaleza Blanco is our tequila comfort food. If you haven’t tried it yet, add it to your tequila wishlist ASAP.
You can get it online from Old Town Tequila for just $40, here: Fortaleza Blanco
What do you think? Which lots do you like the most?
Great information! Thank you ! Can’t wait to add it to my collection
Why can you fine this tequila in Coctco?
Can you? If it’s at a good price, then buy as much as you can while they have it. :-)
